The filmmakers traveled alongside the frontline between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists interviewing soldiers and commanders of all major regiments, regular as well as volunteer. At the center of the narration is morale and patriotism of the military men and women who risk their lives defending their Motherland. This film is about people who create a new chapter in Ukrainian history. “Fellowship of ATO” is the first long-format documentary taking a deeper look at the war.

Filmmakers visited several locations in Luhansk and Donetsk regions and filmed daily routine and military operations of the Ukrainian Army, police regiments, National Guard (“Aidar,” “Donbass,” “Dnipro” units
and others), volunteer regimen “Right Sector”, headquarters, as well as press center of the Anti-Terror Operation. The team of the “Brotherhood of ATO” conducted close to a hundred interviews with regular and volunteer soldiers and commanders: border guards, marines, pilots, gunners, tankers, motorized infantry, signalers, intelligence, counterintelligence, and sailors.

Also, interviewees with high-level commanders were filmed. Among those are Minister of Security Service Valentin Nalyvaichenko, General of the Army of the Republic of Ichkeria, the peacekeeping battalion
